Pull Up – Pull Out – Pull Down

“Average is over” – either we understand that we become a lifelong learner or we can no longer be competitive or exist. The way the world is operating is that we are being: pulled up – demanding more with higher standards; pulled out – expanding knowledge to keep up or lead as our competitors are doing the same or be pulled down – compete with low costs and a race to the bottom.  We better understand that we are now competing in a different world, our competitors are not one or two companies but millions of well educated people around the world that understand that Average is OVER.  Tom Friedman New York Times – Charlie Rose Show December 19th 2013

Was there a moment when you fully understood that average was over and that the world had changed and that to be competitive you understood that what you did before no longer could be the way forward? What steps as a leader did you take so that your company, your team, and you changed the way you were doing things? What investments, what changes did you make? When you think of the comment “Pulled Up – Pulled Out – Pulled Down” what steps did you take to answer them – what did you to pull up – What did you do to pull out and what did you do to understand what pulling down could mean?

The Web and Your Company

According to StatCounter, Dublin – 20% of web browsing is now conducted on mobile devices; compare that to 2009 when mobile browsing was just 1.1% (this was before Apples IPad was introduced). 80 % of web browsing is still done on desktop, but the world is changing and many experts say your company should create a mobile site and keep it simple. (INC. Laura Montini)

The world of attracting customers to your company is changing and the world of technology is impacting everything we do today.  Many of us have had to adjust to this new way of doing business. If you have set up a mobile site for your company what steps have you taken to address the needs of customers using your site?  Have you found it is a benefit to your bottom line?
