Author - International Speaker - Television Producer and Host - Dan Carter has lived a life that could be best described as inspirational, meaningful and tragic. His life has been one of great courage that included a 20 year addiction to drugs and alcohol that almost took his young life.
It has been said that once you know you are going to live you must decide how to live. That's what Dan Carter has done for the past 17 years. Audiences have been inspired not only by Dan's tragic life but his ability to overcome such adversity. He has motivated people to take control of their own lives. When you hear Dan Carter speak, you truly understand that life is a journey that can take many paths.
A veteran television host and producer of news and informational programming, Dan has dedicated his life to becoming more knowledgeable about issues that face communities each day. With the opportunity to broadcast to hundreds of thousands of people each day, it is his hope that he will be able to remove many preconceived judgements about issues that face all of us. Knowledge is power!
Dan has been recognized by the United Way, Chambers of Commerce, Her Majesty the Queen and recently by the current Chief of the Defence Staff of the Canadian Forces. He has been honoured with the Courage to Come Back Award from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. His work to bring awareness to mental health issues has been promoted through all major newspaper, magazine and radio outlets across Canada.
His latest endeavours include the funding of The Hope Centre of Learning and the creation of the Day of Hope and Leadership that will see a national tour starting in 2009. Truly, Dan Carter has decided how he wants to live and it is a life that will help inspire, motivate, build, and lead a nation. Dan's belief is that we can do more and give more when we understand that we can have an impact that will make a difference today because it's the right time now!
